You received the Wordrop Beta link. You downloaded the .dmg. You dragged the app into Applications.
Then macOS showed you this:
> "Wordrop" cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
You clicked OK and figured you'd done something wrong.
You didn't do anything wrong. macOS is just being overly cautious.
Why macOS Blocks Wordrop Beta
macOS has a security feature called Gatekeeper — it blocks any app that hasn't been verified through Apple's official distribution channels.
Beta app = not yet on the App Store = Gatekeeper raises a flag immediately.
This doesn't mean Wordrop is unsafe. It simply means the app is in its testing phase, distributed directly to beta testers — which is you.
The fix only takes a few clicks in System Settings. Takes about 10 seconds.
What You'll Need
- ✅ A Mac running macOS 12 Monterey or later
- ✅ The Wordrop Beta
.dmgfile (sent to you via email or direct link) - ✅ About 3 minutes
Bước 1 — Open the .dmg and Drag Wordrop to Applications
Double-click the Wordrop.dmg file you downloaded. A small window appears with two icons:
[W] Wordrop← the appApplications← the destination folder
Drag the Wordrop icon onto the Applications icon. Wait 5–10 seconds for the copy to finish.

> 💡 Tip: If the .dmg window doesn't open automatically, find the file in your Downloads folder and double-click it.
Step 2 — Try to Open the App with Right-Click
Open Finder → Applications, and find Wordrop.
Instead of double-clicking normally, Right-click the Wordrop icon → select Open from the context menu. This step explicitly confirms your intent to open the app.

Step 3 — macOS Will Show a Security Warning (This is Normal)
Even if you select Open, macOS will still show a security warning because the app isn't on the App Store yet. You will likely see one of these messages:
> "Wordrop" cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
or "Wordrop" was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.

Click Done or OK to dismiss this dialog. Don't worry — this step is required for the system to log the app before you allow it to run in the next step.
Step 4 — Open System Settings to Allow the App
This is the most important step to let macOS run Wordrop.
Open Security Settings:
Click Open Anyway:
Click the Open Anyway button next to the message.

> 💡 Note: macOS might ask you to enter your Mac password (or Touch ID) to confirm. After confirming, if one final warning dialog appears, click Open.
Step 5 — Open Wordrop and Start Experiencing It
Go back to Finder → Applications and open Wordrop again.
This time, the app will open normally. You'll land on the BETA TESTER screen showing:

You're in.

App is still blocked after clicking Open Anyway?
→ Check that the app name is exactly Wordrop.app with a capital W. Names are case-sensitive.
Can't find the PLAN tab in the app?
→ Make sure you're signed in with the same email that received the beta invitation.
App still not in Applications?
→ The app wasn't copied to Applications. Go back to Step 1 and repeat the drag.
The .dmg file won't open at all?
→ Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll down. You may see a prompt saying "Wordrop was blocked." Click Open Anyway.
